“The value of health is not the end of life”
December 8, 2015A era of two new medications: understanding through models
December 8, 2015In the last decade, the phenomenon of judicialization of health has been consistently observed in Brazilian society, especially not as it relates to the acquisition of medications. This new scenario is faced with difficulties both in the field of health managers and in the judicial sector itself, both of which do not have instruments to assist in the effective assessment of demand by users and a lack of understanding of the dynamics of both health and judicial systems.
Given this lack of knowledge and management, a project emerges organized jointly with various institutions, among them the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública Sérgio Arouca and the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, aiming to develop a methodology for the assessment and monitoring of individual judicial demands in Brazil. The objective was not only to identify the aforementioned difficulties, but mainly, to develop strategies and mechanisms that promote better pharmaceutical assistance, and a reduction in the intensity of judicial years.
There is still the potential to facilitate the decision-making process through two assessment indicators, in addition to allowing for the standardization of subsequent studies, whether they are carried out locally or at different times.
The material and the aforementioned indicators can be found for free access through the link Indicators of Avaliação and Monitoring of Judicial Claims for Medications
