Digital health is defined by the WHO as “the field of knowledge and practice associated with the development and use of digital technologies for health improvement.” For its part, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is defined as the “multidisciplinary process that uses explicit methods to determine the value of a health technology at different points in its life cycle.” In general, HTA is developed according to specific methodological frameworks in which certain domains or dimensions of health technologies are evaluated, such as safety, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, legal aspects, social aspects, ethical aspects and organizational aspects. , among other possible ones.
Although standard methodological frameworks are usually useful for evaluating the vast majority of types of health technologies, it is increasingly necessary to develop methodological frameworks or new domains that consider the particularities of digital health technologies.
The Webinar on “STD applied to Digital Health Technologies” aims to inform its participants about some of the available methodological frameworks and other possible dimensions for the Evaluation of digital health technologies from the experiences of Spain and Canada.
