The Pan American Health Organization and the Health Technology Assessment Network of the Americas (RedETSA) organized a new edition of the RedETSA Webinar Program: “Promoting Equity in Health Technology Assessment.”
Date: Friday, March 21, 2025
Health Technology Assessment aims to inform decisions to promote an equitable, efficient, and high-quality health system, using up-to-date methods and solid evidence. Equity in access to technologies is crucial, especially in low- and middle-income countries, such as many in the Americas. Ensuring that all people, regardless of their circumstances, can equally access and benefit from technological innovations in health is essential to promoting a more equitable and efficient health system.
The webinar discussed how equity can be integrated into the HTA process and studies at different stages and perspectives. Santiago Hasdeu of RedARETS presented, among other works, a survey on Equity in HTA conducted among RedETSA members and existing questionnaires on Equity. Juan Yanguela of NICE International presented NICE's experience, specifically how it has used the distributional cost-effectiveness method to address this issue.
