26 September, 2017''Big Data and Real World Evidence''
- Date: May 26, 2017
- Speaker: Augusto Afonso Guerra Jr. from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil
- Issue: The aim of the webinar was to explore the importance of data origin in health technology assessment. The seminar discussed the difference between randomized clinical trials (RCT) and real-world evidence (RWE) in the use of administrative and epidemiological databases to measure effectiveness. Although real-world data can be very complex, they provide insight into the healthcare setting that is difficult to achieve through randomized clinical trials. This real-world evidence could serve to ensure that healthcare systems are achieving the expected results through the incorporation of healthcare technologies.
