RedETSA addresses Latin American experiences in estimating a cost-effectiveness threshold

The topic of this meeting will be: “Estimating the Cost-Effectiveness Threshold: Experiences from Latin America”. Health Technology Assessment specialists Adriana Robayo from Colombia and Ricardo Fernandes from Brazil will participate as guests. Verónica Gallegos Rivero, a specialist from Mexico, will moderate the event.

Meet the speakers:

Adriana Robayo
Surgeon from the National University of Colombia, specialist in internal medicine and nephrology. A master's student in clinical and health effectiveness from the University of Buenos Aires, he also has knowledge in social economy, public health management, occupational health and epidemiology. With more than 20 years of experience in health, from academia to management, he is also a member of the LATAM Forum on International Health Technology Assessment Policies (HTAi), the Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNET), the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA) and RedETSA. He is a member of the Health Economics and Renal Health Committee of the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension for the Health Agenda in the Americas and acted in the Strategic Plan of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).

Ricardo Fernandes
Pharmacist from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, he has a postgraduate degree in Pharmacoeconomics from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and a PhD in Public Health from the IMS of UERJ. He has 11 years of experience working with health technology assessment. He worked at the Department of Management and Incorporation of Health Technologies (DGITS/SCTIE/MS), more specifically in the executive secretariat of the National Commission for the Incorporation of Technologies in the Unified Health System (Conitec) and collaborates with six Health Technology Assessment Centers (NATS) in Brazil.

Veronica Gallegos Rivero
Biomedical Engineer from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico with a postgraduate degree in Health Systems Administration and a PhD in Public Health from the School of Public Health of Mexico. She worked as a civil servant at the National Center for Technological Excellence in Health of the Ministry of Health of Mexico and since 2010 she is Deputy Director of Economic and Social Evaluation of Health Technologies in the area of Health Technology Assessment of the National Center for Technological Excellence in Health (CENETEC). She is co-author of several publications related to HTA. She has participated in various activities with RedETSA since its creation and is part of the Medical Devices Working Group of the Network.
