Context
Building integrated health systems with effective access to quality health technologies is one of the current challenges facing countries in the Region. In this context, the development of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is essential for generating quality evidence to inform health decision-making, as well as for its effective implementation and monitoring of compliance. Furthermore, the link between HTA and decision-making processes is key to generating a real impact on health systems. To date, countries in the Region have implemented HTA with varying degrees of development and institutionalization.
From an integrated approach that encompasses the entire lifecycle of health technologies, effective HTA implementation requires that the components associated with the decision-making process be explicitly integrated and act in a coordinated manner, from evaluation to implementation and monitoring of use.
The event will promote debate on Health Technology Assessment through the exchange of experiences among specialists and managers from the Americas region. In addition to the annual meeting of RedETSA members, the event will include free workshops on June 14.
The Health Technology Assessment Network of the Americas (RedETSA), founded in June 2011 and currently comprised of 42 institutions from 21 countries, seeks to strengthen and promote the HTA process in the Americas, fostering the exchange of information to support decision-making regarding the incorporation, use, and replacement of health technologies. The Network meets annually in person to continue strengthening its mission. This year, the 16th meeting will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the Ministry of Health as the host institution. Additionally, this year, the prestigious global organization HTAi will hold its annual meeting in the region, in Buenos Aires, during the same week as the RedETSA Meeting. This will provide RedETSA members with the opportunity to participate in events of the highest academic level, alongside participants from around the world.
