Alex Faulkner in the preface of the book Medical Technology into Healthcare and Society: a Sociology of Devices, Innovation and Governance, England 2009, states that while medical technology receives increasing attention, the significance of devices as a sector in healthcare systems and in winder society remains a relatively neglected topic in social science analysis and interpretation.
